Breeding Farlowella platorynchus
Breeding Farlowella does not always have to be difficult. In this article, I will tell you a little more about breeding Farlowella platorynchus in my aquarium. Just in a community aquarium.
The aquarium

The aquarium is a 120-centimeter-long Aqualantis. It is equipped with standard Aqualantis LED lighting. The lighting is on for about 10 to 12 hours a day.
The aquarium is set up as a planted aquarium. The aquarium contains various species of fish:
When changing the water, about 40 liters are replaced at a time. I just use tap water for this.
No specific fish stock, just like they used to keep an aquarium. No CO₂, no additives, heating 22 to 23 degrees, light reduction from 12 to 13.45 hours, no separate feeding.
The Farlowella platorynchus breeding pair
I bought the group of Farlowella platorynchus four or five years ago. At the time, they were still juveniles, about five centimeters long. They have since grown into a beautiful adult group:

Laying the eggs
The pair is ready to lay eggs. They do this here in the aquarium against the glass.

Only the yolk is visible in the eggs. The eggs are white/transparent in color.

From the yolk, you can slowly see a little fish forming:

The young fish are growing larger and becoming more visible in the egg.

Raising the young Farlowella platorynchus

This is now the second year that I have been getting clutches. This year is the fifth time. I just let them swim and see which ones grow big, and then I move them to another tank. That way, I have given away about 25 this year…
