Labeo barbatus

At over 60 cm, the Labeo barbatus grows too large for our living room aquariums, so it can really only be kept in large show aquariums. They are very aggressive and combative among themselves. Towards other fish they are fairly peaceful. The aquarium should be furnished with rocks and drift wood and dense border and background vegetation. The bottom should consist of fine sand.

Origin

Congo river.

Diet

It is omnivorous so plenty of variety should be provided. Vegetable food should also be included on the menu.

Breeding

As far as we could find, Labeo barbatus has not been bred in captivity yet.
