Il Nord America ospita un’ampia gamma di affascinanti habitat d’acqua dolce, da ruscelli gorgoglianti e vaste paludi a laghi profondi e fiumi a scorrimento veloce. Questa playlist di YouTube vi porta nel mondo degli acquari biotopo che ricreano questi magnifici ecosistemi. Ogni acquario di questa serie è stato accuratamente curato per fornire una rappresentazione fedele delle acque specifiche del Nord America, con specie di pesci, piante e paesaggi subacquei autentici.
Nei video scoprirete come diverse specie, come gli spinarelli, i pesci di fango e i lucci, convivono in acquari che imitano il più possibile il loro ambiente naturale. Description of the biotope (as written on the information plate):
Valle Nacional River feeds the Papaloapan River (the second largest in Mexico). The shown biotope is a bank stream on Atlantic slope. On its bottom there are grayish and slightly reddish oval rocks and sand, sometimes covered with organic matter and leaves from trees and plants growing on banks. Submerged roots and branches provide food and shelter for the fry of Thorichthys ellioti, which often cohabit with Cichlasoma salvini and Poecilia sphenops. Near the banks there are more wood and leaves on the bottom, while rocks are predominant near the middle with no organic matter in the current. There is almost no aquatic plants here, only small patches of Eleocharis sp., Fontinalis and Fissidens mosses and riverine grass in some parts of the river.

Da quando ho comprato il mio primo acquario di seconda mano all’età di dodici anni, ho sempre avuto uno o più acquari. Ho persino trasformato un garage in una sala di allevamento dove avevo 50 acquari contenenti circa 10.000 litri d’acqua. Al momento ho due acquari: un acquario Tanganyika da 1.250 litri e un acquario comunitario da 250 litri con piante. Negli ultimi 10 anni ho lavorato a questo sito web come scrittore e fotografo.
