Norteamérica alberga una gran variedad de fascinantes hábitats de agua dulce , desde arroyos balbuceantes y vastas marismas hasta profundos lagos y caudalosos ríos. Esta lista de reproducción de YouTube le adentrará en el mundo de los acuarios de biotopos que recrean estos magníficos ecosistemas. Cada acuario de esta serie está cuidadosamente curado para proporcionar una representación fiel de aguas específicas de América del Norte, con auténticas especies de peces, plantas y paisajes submarinos.
En los vídeos descubrirá cómo conviven distintas especies, como los espinos al sol, los peces de fango y los lucios, en acuarios que imitan al máximo su entorno natural. Description of the biotope (as written on the information plate):
Valle Nacional River feeds the Papaloapan River (the second largest in Mexico). The shown biotope is a bank stream on Atlantic slope. On its bottom there are grayish and slightly reddish oval rocks and sand, sometimes covered with organic matter and leaves from trees and plants growing on banks. Submerged roots and branches provide food and shelter for the fry of Thorichthys ellioti, which often cohabit with Cichlasoma salvini and Poecilia sphenops. Near the banks there are more wood and leaves on the bottom, while rocks are predominant near the middle with no organic matter in the current. There is almost no aquatic plants here, only small patches of Eleocharis sp., Fontinalis and Fissidens mosses and riverine grass in some parts of the river.

Desde que compré mi primer acuario de segunda mano cuando tenía doce años, siempre he tenido uno o más acuarios. Incluso convertí un garaje en una sala de cría donde tenía 50 acuarios con unos 10 000 litros de agua. Actualmente tengo dos acuarios: uno de 1250 litros del lago Tanganica y otro comunitario de 250 litros con plantas. Durante los últimos 10 años, he trabajado en este sitio web como escritor y fotógrafo.
