Hyphessobrycon elachys is a lively and peaceful schooling fish for the community aquarium together with other small and peaceful fishes. The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and background. In the middle, you should leave a lot of free swimming space. A dimmed light by using floating plants is appreciated.

This species was first described in 1984 by Weitzman.

South America; They inhabit the Rio Paraná and Rio Paraguay basins in Argentina, Brasil and Paraguay.

Small live food should be given as food. Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.

Breeding Hyphessobrycon elachys
