Gasteropelecus sternicla is a peaceful schooling fish from the upper water layers. Their common name is River Hatchetfish

The aquarium should be well planted, including floating plants. However, a part should be left open for swimming space and food intake. The aquarium must be well covered with cover glasses, as they are good jumpers .

This species was first described in 1858 by Linnaeus.

Diet

Small insects should be givenas food. (e.g. fruit flies) Dry food is also accepted.

Breeding Gasteropelecus sternicla – River Hatchetfish

The fish has not yet been reared in the aquarium.
