Chapalichthys pardalis,Polka-dot Splitfin
Up to species of equal size Chapalichthys pardalis – Polka-dot Splitfin are rather peaceful. They are suited for the community aquarium with other peaceful fishes. The aquarium must be densely planted. A dark substrate and a dimmed light by using floating plants bring out the colors of the fish. A good filter for clear water is necessary.
This species was first described in 1963 by Álvarez.
Diet
Live food should be given as food. Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.
Breeding Chapalichthys pardalis – Polka-dot Splitfin
The breeding of Chapalichthys pardalis is not difficult. The species is oviparous. About ten young are born per litter. By then they are already 15 mm in size and can be raised on finely ground dry food. A dense vegetation is necessary for the survival of the young.
