Caño Tonino is a small blackwater affluent of the Rio Caquetà wich enters the river above La Pedrera. This stream can be reached by walking across the small landing strip ...to a jungle area south of the village.
It is a black water creek, with sandy bottom, some gravel, drift wood and fallen in trees. Although the water level was shallow, about 50 cm at the deepest place.
More then 25 different species living here in such a small biotope: two different Bryconops in the net, possibly both new; beautiful coloured Bujurquina and Heros species; Hemigrammus cf. bellottii, very orange-yellow coloured; two different light coloured Characidium species; two different Elachocharax species; Odontocharacidium aphanes (formerly Klausewitzia); fantastic Melanocharacidium with jet black and golden-yellow colours; beautiful Apistogramma bitaeniata variants; colourful Crenuchus spilurus; two Gymnotiform fishes, like Steatogenys cf. duidae and a Microsternachus, probably M. bilineatus.

Seit ich mit zwölf Jahren mein erstes gebrauchtes Aquarium gekauft habe, habe ich immer ein oder mehrere Aquarien gehabt. Ich habe sogar eine Garage zu einem Zuchtraum umgebaut, in dem ich 50 Aquarien mit insgesamt etwa 10.000 Litern Wasser hatte. Derzeit habe ich zwei Aquarien: ein 1.250-Liter-Tanganjika-Aquarium und ein 250-Liter-Gemeinschaftsaquarium mit Pflanzen. Seit 10 Jahren arbeite ich als Autor und Fotograf an dieser Website.
